A press release from the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources stated that the minister, Tarek El Molla, visited Algeria to attend the 15th International Energy Forum (IEF).
On the sidelined of the IEF, El Molla met with the Algerian Minister of Energy and Mining, Nouredine Bouterfa, to discussed possible ways of mutual cooperation. The two ministers also discussed oil and gas market upgrades and the efforts exerted by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting (OPEC) countries to reach global market stability.
El Molla also met with the IEF’s Secretary General, Sun Xiansheng. They discussed Egypt’s strategic plans for the petroleum sector that aims to motivate international oil and gas companies to invest in the country. They also discussed recent petroleum discoveries, especially in Mediterranean Sea Concession, Delta Concession and Western Desert Concession, which suggest that Egypt has promising oil and gas potential.
Xiansheng confirmed the necessity of cooperation between Egypt, Algeria, and other African nations, concluding that the IEF will support Egypt’s energy field.
