The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum announced that the gas usage of power stations has increased to 3.4bcf/d, up from 3.3bcf/d, , reported Daily News Egypt.

The ministry currently provides power stations with 29,000t of oil and 4,000t of diesel to cover their daily energy needs.

Based on an agreement with the Ministry of Electricity, the Ministry of Petroleum will guarantee a supply of 3.9bcf/d of gas to cover fuel consumption by the power plants for August to ensure their disrupted operation. Meanwhile, local gas production has increased in July, however, the amounts vary. According to Daily News Egypt gas output grew from 3.9bcf/d to 3.95bcf/d, whereas Al Borsa News. informed about an increase to 4.05bcf/d in the given period.

In addition, Egypt has been importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) via Ain Sokhna port’s floating re-gasification unit and the Jordanian pipeline with total volumes amounting to 1.3bcf/d.
